Thiririka Nature Trail
This was an easy 9km hike starting a few kilometres from Gatundu town and ending in the town itself. It involves trekking along Thiririka river and viewing 3 waterfalls.
The hike is quite pleasant, easy for beginners with a few instances of moderately steep terrain, though can be slippery in places near the river.
The 1st waterfall is artificial.
After about 2km trail along the river, we come across the 1st natural waterfall that has beautiful view both from the top and the bottom. It have nice scenic view of caves visible from the bottom view.
We relax for a while as we enjoyed the sounds of the fall.
The trail along the river is the most therapeutic with the sounds of the rivers and birds echoing all along. The fresh air as we go up and down through dense vegetation was the most cleansing.
The second section of the hike involves crossing the river over the water pipe network, walking along the tarmac for about 800m then crossing the river again to view the magnificent water fall.
The third magnificent Thiririka falls.
Here we spent time swimming or dipping our feet into the river before calling it a day.
