Regina KambaKahunira Water Falls Hike
Kahunira water falls are found on river Kahunira in Kiambu county, Kenya. The hike starts and ends at Githunguri township which is located in Kiambu county, about 35km from Nairobi. We start with dirt roads overlooking Ruiru dam before going down and following the river for most of the hike. Visible during the hike are tea plantations before we get off the main road.
Immediately we turn off the road about 50 metres, we encounter the first water fall.
We take a break to enjoy the sound of the waterfall and the insects and birds chirping
The river is very clean and cool in some parts until you get to the next waterfall
The last water fall is deeper and mid-level diving is allowed
So much fun!!!
Eventually, after the last crossing by walking along large water pipes,60 metres long, we climb back up and walk back into the town. The total hiking distance is 10km and can be covered in less than 8 hours at an easy slow pace to fully enjoy the environment
