Meru National Park

Meru NP3

Meru National park is one of the best wildlife parks in Kenya which has been left nearly unspoilt for years. Meru being around Mt. Kenya experiences sufficient rainfall throughout the year, hence the park is covered with the best flora and fauna.

The park is 300km from Nairobi and located towards the north east of Mount Kenya, past the Meru town toward Maua. You’ll see plenty of Miraa crops as you drive from Meru town towards the park. The view of Nyambene hills is spectacular and once you cross the Mt. Kenya forest, you are able to have very beautiful views of Mt. Kenya.

The park plays host to a variety of common and uncommon wildlife such as lions, rhino, buffalo, girrafes, elephants, antelopes, as well as Grevy’s zebra and a huge variety of birdlife.

The road is tarmacked all the way to the park. Inside the park, the roads are very well paved that even with a small car you can enjoy your game drive. The terrain is rugged and beautiful with covered with large trees, thick bushes, many rivers, swamps, thick grasslands.

At the entrance

We are greeted by a host of monkeys and baboons. All through the day, we encountered many others as we drove around the park

A host of antelopes grazing lazily on the green pastureland

Then there are these beautiful giraffes that were in large numbers just minding their business

When we thought that we had seen it all, boom!

A host of Zebras looking all nourished

There were many birds; guinea fowls, quails, goshawk, starling. But the bustard captured my heart

A herd of buffalos just chilling

Just as our day was ending we find these beautiful girls relaxing
