The first hike this year was a 12 kilometers hike which turned to 16 kilometers due to unavoidable changes of the routing. Migaa is in Kiambu county about 45 minutes from Nairobi town.

The hike was beginner to moderate  with moderate elevations as we traversed though the vast coffee plantations. We had a view of 2 beautiful  waterfalls though the water levels are a bit low at this time of the year. We had lunch by the man-made dam while watching the ducks swimming.

The birdlife here is also quite amazing. We watched them all through the journey as we traversed thick undergrowth by the river, through grasslands, maize plantations, and coffee farms with awesome canopy of trees.

The sun was scorching but the experience was breathtaking.

The waterfall was a place to catch our breath as we listened to the flowing stream of water.

With the scotching sun, short breaks were necessary

The walk through fields of grass while viewing the birds and butterflies

The ducks were having a good time at the dam

Bird viewing was the icing of the cake
