Obstacles To Healthy Eating Habits
Some of the habits that were in my way to achieving my healthy eating goals was the availability of the unhealthy foods conveniently within reach.
- Soda in the fridge
- A carton of biscuits in the pantry
- Weekly snacks stock-up of chocolates, scones, cookies
- Weekend new recipes of pastries
- Ice cream in the freezer
- Regular eating and continuous snacking
For me to maintain my healthy eating goals this year, I had to make changes in my approach to food.
Some of the behavioral reinforcements I have had to make this year includes;
- No stocking of sodas, ice cream or packet juices – if they are not available I wouldn’t consume them
- I bought a 1.2litre water bottle that I keep refilled
- No more stocking of biscuits – instead I buy popcorns for snacking
- I eat meals on schedule – on 3 hour interval
- I still try new pastry recipes but for healthy snacks like oat cookies
- I snack mainly on fruits or nuts on schedule
