Who should exercise?

Everybody should perform some form of physical activity. The type of exercise depends on the age, health and level of physical fitness.

Why do you fail in physical fitness?

  1. Fear of Discomfort Transforming your body into a healthier version of yourself will require some level of discomfort. Learning to recognize that discomfort is a mental state will help you break down any barriers and achieve your goal.
  2. The exercises you are doing are boringThere is more than one way to become more active and improve your health, but you need to find a model that works for you. Dancing, walking, swimming, hiking, gym, kick boxing. Change routine. Keep it fun.
  3. You don’t have a clear goal – Be specific and write it down. If the goal is weight loss or body fat loss, identify your target weight, the time element, and what you’ll do every day to make it happen. If it’s muscle gain or toning, identify the exercises that can get you there and how you’ll measure.
  4. You lack motivation – Take stock of why you started working out and make sure the cause matters to you, and especially that you’re doing it to yourself and not because someone else thinks you should.
  5. You are uncertain about your workout – Don’t do it alone. Get a personal trainer. Share your goals, ask questions. Like anything else, the more your study and practice, the more confident you will become.
  6. You are not seeing the results – Outcome of exercise takes time. There is no quick fix. Also get your nutrition right.
  7. No accountability Being accountable to a friend or Personal Trainer will greatly increase your chances of showing up, working harder and having success. Try at least writing your goals down and keep them somewhere you can see them every day!
  8. Feeling uncomfortable in the gym Physical fitness can be attained elsewhere, it doesn’t have to be in a gym. Home workouts, running, walking in the estate, swimming, dancing can be done in your own confines.
  9. Comparing Yourself to Others – It is easy to become consumed and discouraged by the constantly streaming imageries displayed on social media of the perfect fitness bodies. It is important to remain focused on your own goals, as everyone’s differs.
  10. Lack of Time – It is important to think of working out as a life priority and evaluate what you could possibly do without, for example TV time. Establishing fitness as a habitual part of your day will help you achieve your goals.
