Should you sacrifice your Health for Wealth?

wealth

You do not have to sacrifice your health in search of wealth.

You can have both.

True wealth can only be experienced in a healthy body and mind.

If you are employed, ensure that you take your earned leave days. Plan your leave in a way that helps you relax, recharge and rejuvenate.

If you are in self-employment, be deliberate in setting some time off your business to rewind.

Be intentional about how you utilize your weekend.

  • Surround yourself with people that you love and care about, people that give positive energy
  • Reconnect with your long forgotten hobbies
  • Do non-income-generating activities
  • Have adequate sleep

Be conscious of your nutrition while at work.

  • Have a bottle of water to keep hydrated while you work
  • Have healthy snacks (peanuts, cashewnuts, macadamia nuts, fruit) with you to avoid the temptation of eating the unhealthy snacks mostly provided at work (biscuits, sweets, mandazi, sausages, packed juice)
  • Schedule your meals to coincide with your work lunch break
  • Ensure your main meal has all the macronutrients and in proper proportions. Where possible carry packed lunch (you have control of the ingredients)

Incorporate friendly exercises in your normal work day

  • Take the stares instead of the elevator
  • Park your car away from the office and walk the rest of the distance
  • Do regular stretches of your back, neck, arms, legs, fingers while at work
  • Make us of your stress ball to stimulate blood flow and reduce tension
  • Take a phone call while walking around the office
  • Where possible hold meeting while standing
  • Avoid sitting for more than 2 hours consecutively; take bathroom breaks, water breaks, tea breaks, lunch breaks.

You do not want to spend all your health making money, and then spend your money in buying the best hospital bed in the best hospital battling preventable illnesses that can be hindered by living a healthy lifestyle.
